To keep your Butler and Peach miniatures looking just as they did the day you bought them, it is important to understand that each piece is made from solid foundry bronze and finished with a custom-heated acid patina. We have put together this care guide to help you preserve these miniature works of art for years to come.

Daily and Routine Dusting

When cleaning bronze, it is best to dust them, not polish. Because these miniatures are so small, dust can settle into the fine details of fur and feathers, a soft, dry artist’s paintbrush is far more effective than a cloth for reaching into tight spots without snagging.

When cleaning your miniatures, try to handle them by their base or use a soft cloth. The natural acids in your fingerprints can slowly wear through the protective wax over many years.

Deep Cleaning

If your miniature becomes dirty or sticky, avoid using harsh household chemicals, which can strip the patina and ruin its value. Instead, use distilled water mixed with a tiny drop of pH-neutral soap.

Gently wipe the surface with a soft cloth. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush for stubborn areas, but never submerge the piece in water, as moisture can get trapped under the felt base or in the tiny pits of the metal. Ensure your miniature is completely dry (a hair dryer on a "cool" setting works well) before putting it back on display.

Protection and Waxing

Butler and Peach miniatures are sealed with a specialist wax at the foundry. If the bronze begins to look dull or "dry," you can refresh it using a microcrystalline wax (the type used by museums). Avoid car wax, as it often contains abrasives.

Apply a very thin, even coat using a soft brush. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then buff gently with a lint-free cloth to restore that deep, lustrous glow.
